2.1 A New Heir Shall Rise

Welcome back everyone, to the start of Generation 2 of the Pollination: Mission Statement Legacy! The majority has spoken, and Cassiopeia was soundly named the new heiress. Seven, having successfully raised his litter of hybrid offspring and reached his Lifetime Wish, is more than ready for a 'nice' . . .

and 'uneventful' retirement . . .

Now that we know for certain that Antares will not be the next to carry the torch, he makes short work of tracking down his fair Starla. Apparently when her sister married a rich old guy Starla decided to tag along. And from the looks of things she might not be terribly happy with the fact that Antares has barely called her since reaching Young Adulthood . . . that's my fault, not his! I promise! O_o

ANTARES - Look Starla! More pretty plants!

Well, looks like she forgave him pretty quickly. Those 'pretty plants' really do the trick it seems.

ANTARES - You know you're the only taffy for me, fair Starla.

STARLA - Oh Tary. You always know how to sweet-talk a girl.

O . . kay?

ANTARES - I'm glad you feel that way, because there's something in my pocket that wants to meet you.
STARLA - Um . . .

ANTARES - Say hello to my little friend!

ANTARES - Shiney! Eh? Eh?! *eyebrow waggle*

STARLA - OMG, Tary! Are you asking me to marry you?!
ANTARES - . . . yah, sure. Okay.

ANTARES - So . . . getting married . . . does that mean I have to change my underpants?
STARLA - . . . among other things, yes.
OLD GUY - Don't mind me. Just hanging out in my own front yard with my new puppy. Photobombing your shots. Doodeedoo.

Once Antares caught back up to Starla's level of the conversation, he saw no reason to delay. He took Starla out to one of the cliffside parks and called the whole family as well.

It was Gettin' Married time!

Looks like Starla's pretty excited about joining the Pollination Clan.

Unfortunately since I didn't schedule it as an actual 'wedding party' the rest of the family could care less.

Still, despite everyone else's apathy, Antares and Starla are married in the dark in due fashion.

Back home Starla admires her new ring.

While Antares gets on the phone to find a new place to live. Love you kid, but I need room for babiez!

And so we say goodbye to Seven and Bart's second born, the crazy mischief-maker that was Antares Pollination.

Cassiopeia and Six continue to bond while the days count down to her young adult birthday. Here she's attempting to show him how to play chess.

With varied results, it seems.

Orion's not getting released into the river of Story Progression until he paints me my Gen 2 heir and spouse portraits. He successfully manages Six's portrait on the first try. Point for me!

Meanwhile he's started his career in the Criminal path . . . with an interesting choice of attire. I thought they wore stripy shirts? And shoes? O_o

Back at home it's time for Bart to join Seven in elderhood.

Seven is sure to cheer him on in his usual fashion.

Orion even gets to leave the easel for a bit to join in.

My founder and heiress . . . keeping the traditions alive.

Bart finishes his sparkle dance into an elder, a track-suit and BACK into the Legacy hair. *dies*

After a quick make-over, he's back to being my lovable Bart.

That night Cassiopeia plucked up the courage to approach Six about something that had been plaguing her from the day they met. It would be her birthday tomorrow, and she had a feeling that afterward everything was going to change . . .

CASSI - Six . . . I realize that there is . . . some sort of connection between the two of us. You're always so nice to me, but you can barely stand anyone else in the house.  Why is that? What does it mean?

SIX - It's because I've imprinted.
CASSI - Imprint?
SIX - Yes. In rare cases our species find what is considered to be their perfect mate. When they do, they imprint on one another. Suddenly that person becomes your whole world. Your reason for being. Being with them is more than a want, it becomes a need. One as vital to life as eating and breathing. You're still too young to understand it fully . . .  but you will in time.

CASSI - So you mean . . . we . . . ?
SIX - We'll see what happens tomorrow, Cassi. Try not to worry about it for now. Just get some sleep.
ORION - Ladeedaaaaah . . . Don't mind me. Just getting a few midnight crepes . . .

Six watched her leave, hoping and praying to whatever deities watched over this pitiful space rock that she would return his imprint on the morrow. Else his life was going to get very complicated and very uncomfortable . . . .

Seven maxed his Gardening skill . . . just thought I'd share. :D

But on to the moment we've all been waiting for. Cassiopeia's young adult birthday! I didn't bother with a party. <-- Lazy. Six was off at work, so it was just her dads and Orion there to celebrate.

Seven has to celebrate in his normal fashion of course.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the heir to Generation 2, Cassiopeia Pollination. She rolled Bookworm for her final trait, with Chess Legend already locked in for her LTW.

The house gets a little makeover while we wait for Six to return. First Cassi's bedroom, which has been given the, ah, proper 'accomodations' for things to come. XD

I also gave Seven and Bart's bedroom a little pick-me-up in the form of some decorative clutter, now that I have the simoleons to spare. I moved the boys' portraits in here too. I meant to give them some curtains too and I forgot. <--fail

And finally, I added a 'family' computer out in the living-room in the hopes that Bart and Seven would stop trying to invade Cassi's room and wake her up at all hours to play computer games. Turns out it was in vain.

Bart heads off to his first day as a 5-Star Chef. Pretty darned snazzy if I say so myself.

And then . . . the moment of truth. Six arrives home. The two lock-eyes from across the room . . . . If Six thought he'd felt the yearning of imprinting before, it was NOTHING compared to what he felt now that she was matured.

And for Cassiopeia's part . . .she suddenly understood exactly what Six had been trying to say last night. All through growing up she'd never felt the desire to get closer to or be intimate with any of her classmates. She'd never been kissed, never even held hands let alone woohoo. But in that moment, staring at Six, she suddenly wanted to do all of them. And right now.

CASSI - Six, I . . .  I think I just . . . is this imprinting?
SIX - Well that depends. What are you feeling?

CASSI - This.

SIX - *chuckle* Then yes, I think it's safe to say you imprinted.
CASSI - But . . . what happens now? I-I mean, I've never--,
SIX - Shh. Don't worry, Cassiopeia. You are my mate, now, and I take care of what's mine. From this moment onward nothing will ever hurt you again. I swear it.
CASSI - *dreamy sigh* Okay.

Long supressed and newly raging alien hormones being what they were . . . .

. . . things progressed pretty quickly from there.

Oho . . . was that a baby-chime I heard? ^_~ Find out next time, on Pollination: Mission Statement!

Oy! Orion! Keep painting like that and you're never gonna get unchained from that easel! *snaps the whip* BACK TO WORK!
