2.2 Cultural Differences

Time for another edition of Pollination: Mission Statement. Today we open up with elderly Gen 1 enjoying a rousing breakfast of chocolate-chip cookies. It's all they ever eat now, as Bart keeps a steady supply saved in the uuber fridge.

Meanwhile Gen 2 is waking up from her first night of 'fun' with her new mate.

CASSI - That was . . . well worth the wait, I think. :) . . . but I also feel . . . a little strange.

Ah, that's just Gen 3 on the way. :D

In the other bathroom, Six's offspring-senses go tingling, and he is a happy alien because of it.

Poor Cassi is less pleased by the constant nausea.

She still soldiers on with her LTW, though. Another day, another chess opponent to crush.

Cassi interrupts their game after a moment to go ahead and graduate, though. Yeah, she jumped her alien soldier before she'd even officially graduated. This amuses me.

Back to the game! Six returns from his morning jog, not quite sure what to make of his new mate socializing with another male. Still in the over-protective honeymoon phase, I suppose.

SIX - If he tries to touch her I'll rip his arms off.
Look at that hair, Six. I think Cassi's safe.

Hah, finally! Thank you, Orion!

ORION - FREEDOM!

No need to be melodramatic . . . >_<

Gen 2's mausoleum space. Pretty nifty.

Orion didn't waste any time after that. I have babies on the way, after all, and they need a nursery.

Orion takes a page out of his brother Antares' book.

With successful results. I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't putting something in those flowers . . . .

As dusk approaches, Orion pops the 'Marry Me' question.

Angelina is happy to say yes.

ORION - Lets not take any chances that she'll come up with something else for me to paint, Ange. How about we get married right here, right now?
ANGELINA - Yeah, sure.

Sheesh. No respect, I tell ya.

Orion and Angelina share vows in their regular clothes next to the mailbox, in true Legacy fashion.

With just themselves and the wild outdoors for witnesses.

I went ahead and moved him in with her and her family afterward. So this is goodbye Orion Pollination, first born and cutest toddler ever. May Story Progression treat you well.

Cassiopeia makes sure her man is showered with compliments regularly.

Looks like he approves. Aaah, young love.

They aren't the only ones getting frisky, though.

Seven and Bart, showing the kids how to do it right.

The next day . . . baby bump makes it official. :D

Orion and Antares' old room gets a baby makeover. I rather like how it turned out, myself.

CASSI - Good morning, daddy. This food you made is excellent, as usual. Also, Six and I are expecting our first child.

BART - *spits out cookie* WHAT?!?!

BART - You're pregnant, Cassi? Already? But . . . you're not even married yet!
CASSI - Marriage is an earth custom, daddy. I don't think--
BART - Yes, marriage is an earth custom. And YOU are half earthling, don't let Six make you forget that fact. If that deadbeat alien thinks he can knock up my daughter and not give her a ring . . . I don't care if he works out all the time, I'll rip him apart.

Cassiopeia didn't want Six and her father to fight. And . . . her daddy Bart DID have a point. She was half-earth sim. Why couldn't she observe the mating rituals of both her species?

Meanwhile Bart decided to take a sojourn into town, having rolled a wish to buy out a business. Why not 'his' bistro? The old lady in the jester hat is Nina Caliente, mourning the death of her older sister Dina. I have no idea who the graduate is who's dreaming of lols.

The Bistro successfully became the Pollination Public Eatery. And Nina is still broken-hearted . . . over never seeing a unicorn? Whatever it is, you can see how many fucks Bart gives about it. That is to say, none at all.

That night Cassi pulled Six aside.

CASSI - Six, you might have noticed my growing proportions. I am, in fact, pregnant with our first child.

SIX - Oh, I know. Our kind can sense our offspring. I can't wait to meet it.

CASSI - Now that there is a child to consider, I was thinking we might make our relationship official.
SIX - Official?
CASSI - It is customary for mates to undergo a ceremony called marriage here.

SIX - Marriage? Pfft. Sounds pointless.
CASSI - But I--.
SIX - We are mated in the eyes of my people, Cassiopeia. There's no need for this 'ceremony.'

SIX - I'm going to bed, Cassi. You should as well. You need your rest while you're carrying offspring.

Well, that went about as well as Cassiopeia figured it would. She hadn't thought she really cared one way or another about being married before . . . until Six said no . . . .
